July 07, 2016 Gwinnett County Police are investigating an early morning bank robbery where an employee was forced into the bank at gunpoint as she opened the door to Piedmont Bank located at 5100 Peachtree Parkway. The incident began around 6:45 am. Once inside the bank, the suspect demanded that the employee open the vault and not activate any of the security alarms inside the bank. The employee told the suspect that she did not have the access codes to the vault. After tying the employee up and leaving her in the restroom, he took her purse that contained her cell phone and personal cash. The suspect later walked out of the bank and got into the backseat of a silver Jeep Liberty. The suspect is described as a black male over six foot tall and weighing 220 pounds. He fled the scene without any of the banks money.

Detectives later recovered what is believed to be the getaway vehicle at a nearby apartment complex. The vehicle was stolen out of Atlanta. It is being processed by CSI at Gwinnett Police Headquarters. Detectives are still working to recover interior photographs and video from bank management. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
