Sweep Leads to Multiple Arrests

(September 1, 2015, Lawrenceville, Georgia) On August 27, 2015, a sweep was conducted for subjects with outstanding warrants and probation and parole violators in the Gwinnett County Police Department’s North Precinct.  This event was a multi-agency cooperative effort between the Gwinnett County Police Department, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Probation and Parole Office.

GCPD units participating in the sweep included the Gangs Unit, the Special Investigations Section, the DUI Unit, the Aviation Unit, and Community Response Team (CRT) officers from all precincts.  GCSO personnel included deputies from the Field Operations Division, including K9 support and prisoner transport. The Probation and Parole Office provided six field officers.

A total of 49 officers, and one lieutenant as the operations commander, divided into teams which included one probation and parole officer, at least one GCSO deputy, and multiple GCPD officers.  Officers swept North Precinct attempting to execute multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants on known violators, as well as conducting 55 checks on persons currently on probation or parole to ensure compliance with court orders and probation/parole guidelines.

As a result of this effort, two felony arrests were made for drugs and drug possession, and the Probation and Parole Office obtained 23 felony warrants on persons who have absconded from their reported residences and violated their probation and parole conditions.  One subject was found to be in police custody in another jurisdiction.
