Update #1- The male and female deceased in the investigation have been identified. The male was 48 year old Kalvin Wright of Albany, Ga. The female was 33 year old Gentorica Wright.

Original -(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is currently investigating a homicide at the Sugar Mill Apartments in Lawrenceville, Ga. Shortly after 9:30 am this morning, three children were dropped off at the apartment complex leasing office. The children told staff their father had shot their mother inside their apartment. Leasing office staff then called 911. The male suspect had taken the children to the leasing office before returning to the apartment. Due to a possible barricaded gunman situation, the Gwinnett County Police SWAT team was activated.

Once SWAT arrived, they made entry into the apartment due to the unknown status of the female victim. After making entry, they located the male suspect and female victim deceased with apparent gunshot wounds. The Gwinnett County Homicide Unit was then notified to take over the investigation. The male suspect and female victim were married. The children were in the apartment at the time the female victim was shot. The children, all under the age of 10, are being cared for by family members at this time. The incident is believed to be domestic. There was no recent history at the address. The incident is still under investigation.

We are always saddened to learn of incidents such as this, especially when young children are involved. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending next of kin notifications.
