UPDATE #2 - Road Rage Stabbing

UPDATE #2 (Lawrenceville, Georgia) The driver of the pictured vehicle was identified as Eugene Brants (W/M, 25 years old) of Dacula.  The original victim of the stabbing is Jesse Cole (W/M, 38 years old) of Demorest.  Detectives have determined this was a road rage incident where both drivers exited their vehicles and confronted each other.  A physical fight took place, during which Brants stabbed Cole.  Brants has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault as a result.  He was transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center without incident.

Brants also had visible injuries to his head as a result of this incident. Cole has been charged with battery and has agreed to turn himself in when he is sufficiently recovered from his injuries.

UPDATE #1 (Lawrenceville, Georgia, May 14, 2018) The driver of the pictured vehicle has been identified.  The subject saw media coverage of the incident and immediately turned himself in to GCPD detectives.  No charges have been filed at this time.  No further information will be released until the investigation is complete.

ORIGINAL RELEASE (Lawrenceville, Georgia, May 11, 2018) Gwinnett County Police Department detectives are seeking the public’s help identifying the suspect in a road rage stabbing incident.

Location:         Peachtree Industrial Blvd near Little Mill Road, Sugar Hill, GA                  

Suspect:          white male

approximately 5’08” tall

150 - 170 pounds

30 - 40 years old

shaved head

Vehicle:           early 2000s Mazda Protégé 5, blue

Scenario:         On May 7, 2018, the victim was stopped at a red light on Peachtree Industrial Blvd.  The suspect stopped beside the victim and got out.  The suspect approached the victim’s door and stabbed the victim multiple times.  The victim is expected to survive. The victim took a photograph of the suspect’s vehicle which is pictured above.
