Original, 07/21/2017: (Snellville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is currently investigating a homicide on Medlock Park Drive in unincorporated Snellville.  Officers were originally dispatched to the home shortly after midnight.

Based on the preliminary investigation, a domestic dispute occurred between a husband and wife.  The wife is deceased, and her husband is on the run.  The couple recently married but have been together for several years.  The female victim has several children (mostly adult) from a previous relationship.

The investigators have been told that one of the victim’s sons (approximately 10 years old) was in and out of the home for most of the day.  He returned back to the home at around 9pm.  At about that time, he saw his stepfather leave the house, but he didn’t notice anything suspicious.  Between 9pm and midnight, the child was inside the home unaware that his mother was deceased inside another bedroom.  At around midnight, he went to check on his mother and discovered that she was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The son called 911.  Officers assigned to the South Precinct responded to the home and attempted to use their issued AED, but those attempts were unsuccessful.  The Gwinnett County Fire Department arrived soon after and notified the officers that the woman was deceased.

The lead detective believes that the husband is driving a 2001 black Ford Expedition with chrome wheels.  The license plate number is:  RGJ8749

The name of the victim is not being disclosed at this time.  Once arrest warrants are obtained for the suspect, this Media Release will be updated.
