COMMISSIONERS APPROVE CONSTRUCTION OF TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS ACROSS COUNTY

(Lawrenceville, Ga., April 27, 2018) – The Board of Commissioners recently approved several SPLOST-funded transportation items, including improvements to the intersection of Suwanee Dam Road at Riverside Road and the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of North Road and Pharrs Road. The recent actions include:

  • Award of a construction contract for $1,846,605.50 to improve the intersection of Suwanee Dam Road and Riverside Road. This contract is funded 67.5 percent by the 2014 SPLOST program and 32.5 percent by the city of Sugar Hill. The project will realign the intersection and add a traffic signal, along with left-turn lanes, sidewalks, and curb and gutter on Suwanee Dam Road.
  • Award a construction contract for $729,417.06 to install a roundabout at the intersection of North Road and Pharrs Road.
  • Approval to amend an agreement with the Gateway 85 Gwinnett CID for street lighting. The amendment would add the Jimmy Carter Boulevard corridor from Live Oak Parkway to Brook Hollow Parkway into the Street Lighting Program. The capital cost to install is estimated at $93,582.
  • Approval to execute an intergovernmental agreement with Gateway 85 Gwinnett CID to improve the intersection of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Rockbridge Road. The improvements will include an upgraded traffic signal and landscaping. The signal upgrade is funded by the 2017 SPLOST program. The CID is funding the enhancement to install mast arms and to install and maintain the landscaping.
