GWINNETT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MANAGER GRADUATES FROM LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 14, 2017) –  One of Gwinnett County’s economic development managers graduated from the Gwinnett Young Professionals Leadership Institute, a personal and professional development program by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Georgia Gwinnett College.

Shantell Wilson, economic development manager of strategic industries in the Gwinnett County Office of Economic Development, completed the institute’s six-month course on leadership and professional development. The course focuses largely on helping young professionals explore leadership theories and prepare for positions of leadership, as well as honing skills in conflict resolution, delegation, team building, time management and stress management.

The County Office of Economic Development encourages investment and trade through relocation and expansion assistance. Wilson is responsible for sales and marketing, business retention and expansion, and economic development incentive negotiations.

Wilson joined Gwinnett in 2015 after stints in the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Savannah Economic Development Authority and Partnership Gwinnett. She is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and holds an MBA from Walden University.

Gwinnett Young Professionals helps young business people develop and enhance leadership skills and encourages them to exchange ideas, share common interests, learn more about the area’s business community and engage in the community’s future.
