ADOPT YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND AT GWINNETT ANIMAL SHELTER THIS APRIL WITH REDUCED ADOPTION FEES

(Lawrenceville, Ga., April 11, 2018) – April is National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Month and includes National Pet Parents Day (April 29), Adopt a Shelter Pet Day (April 30), and National Hairball Awareness Day (April 25). In recognition of those special occasions and to honor our dedicated animal control officers, the Gwinnett Animal Welfare and Enforcement Division has cut adoption fees to $45 for dogs.

Dogs and cats up for adoption at the shelter are examined, vaccinated and neutered or spayed by Animal Welfare staff veterinarians, so they are ready to go home on the day of adoption.

Shelter fees are typically $90 for a dog. Cat adoptions are $30.

Please keep in mind that adopting an animal is a decision that should include responsible planning for space, permission if renting, and follow-up veterinarian care from a local clinic. Animals are forever family members that require love, attention, exercise and stimulation and can live 10 years or longer depending on age and breed. Please consider this upon planning to adopt.

If you cannot adopt, please consider volunteering at the animal shelter or donating supplies or money to help the shelter improve the health of the animals, increase the number of adoptions and rescues, and continue to offer pet care education free to the community.

The shelter is open for adoptions Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

So add a little joy to your life with an adoring dog or cat.
