VOLUNTEERS BEAUTIFY DESHONG PARK

(Lilburn, Ga., Oct. 26, 2017) – The Gwinnett Parks Foundation held its semi-annual Park’nership event on Oct. 21 to clean up and enhance different areas of DeShong Park in Stone Mountain. There were 47 volunteers who completed 147 hours of service by spreading four tons of mulch and improving the park landscape. Volunteers cleared underbrush along the paved trail to provide a safer experience for the park patrons. The event was in partnership with Gwinnett Great Days of Service and featured volunteers with TeenHop of Grayson, Baha’i Community of South Gwinnett, Cub Scout Pack 251, H.O.O.K.E.D Teen club and residents from the community. Through their dedication, energy, and commitment, these volunteers are both invaluable and inspirational.

Park'nership offers an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the community to come together and serve with other volunteers to enhance Gwinnett's beautiful parks. Volunteers help with park maintenance, streambank stabilization, and habitat creation, providing manpower that the county could not otherwise afford. More importantly, events like this bring people together to be good stewards of their parks.
