Gwinnett firefighters are currently on the scene of a multi-vehicle/multi-patient injury accident on Highway 316 E/B at Buford Drive in Lawrenceville.  The preliminary information is as follows:

9-people transported with minor to moderate injuries.  This includes adults and children.  Two of the adults were considered to be in critical condition.

8-people evaluated and released at the scene for minor complaints

1-person deceased at the scene

Total Patients = 18 (including the DOA)

There are 10 are adults and 8 children that were injured in the accident.

One vehicle was underneath a tractor trailer and was engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived.  The driver of that vehicle is deceased at the scene.  There are a total of 8 vehicles involved in the crash.    

The accident is currently under investigation by the Lawrenceville Police Department.  Please contact the Lawrenceville Police PIO for media release information.  Highway 316 E/B will be closed for a considerable time due to the wreckage and accident investigation.  Police are diverting traffic from the area
