UPDATE #2: Double Homicide Suspect Arrested

Update #2, 01/27/2020: On Friday, January 24, 2020, Karlton Sirmons was placed under arrest in the city of Atlanta.  This was a collaborative effort by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, the Atlanta Police Department, the US Marshals, and our team of dedicated officers. 

According to a Media Release published by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, Karlton was taken into custody at around 5am at 165 Ruzelle Drive in Atlanta.  He was later booked in to the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. 

Sirmons has been charged with Felony Murder (2 counts) and Aggravated Assault (2 counts).  He had previous active warrants for Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon issued by another law enforcement agency. 

 

Update #1, 11/02/2019: Arrest warrants have been obtained for the suspect in this case. The suspect’s name is Karlton Sirmons (age 30, Norcross). His current whereabouts are unknown, and he is considered armed and dangerous. 

Sirmons has been charged with Felony Murder (2 counts) and Aggravated Assault (2 counts).  He had previous active warrants for Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. 

The victims in this case have been identified as Derrick Dennis (age 55, Norcross) and Josh Dennis (age 30, Norcross).  The victims are uncle and nephew.

Original, 11/02/2019: (Norcross, Georgia)  The GCPD Homicide Unit is investigating a double homicide that occurred on Beaver Springs Lane in unincorporated Norcross. 

Officers were dispatched to Building 2042 of the townhome community located off Beaver Springs Lane in Norcross in reference to a “person shot” call.  The call came in from a friend/relative who requested an ambulance to the location.

Officers arrived on scene around 4:45AM to find two black males with gunshot wounds who were deceased.

The Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit, District Attorney’s Office, and the Medical Examiner’s Office were all notified.  Officers went door-to-door asking residents if they heard or saw anything that could be related to the crime.  

The name of the victim is being withheld until his next-of-kin can be notified.
