Homicide Investigation – 2330 Club Place, Duluth – Victim and Shooter Identified
Update #1, 08/08/2018: The homicide victim has been identified as Jessica Criff (age 27, Duluth). Notification has been made to Jessica’s next-of-kin.
The shooter has been identified as Cortez Lofton (age 25, Duluth).
Immediately following the shooting, Cortez called 911 to report the incident. He remained at the scene awaiting the arrival of police and fire personnel. After Jessica was transported to the hospital, Cortez was transported to Gwinnett County Police Headquarters to meet with investigators.
Cortez has been cooperative with the investigation. At this time, he has not been charged with any crimes from yesterday’s incident. The lead detective assigned to this case is still working to gather more information about the events that led up to the shooting as well as the results from the autopsy.

Original, 08/07/2018: (Duluth, Georgia) Gwinnett Police responded to a person shot call this morning at the 2300 block of Club Place (unincorporated Duluth) shortly before 5:00am. Upon arrival they located a female with an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries. Detectives were contacted and responded to the scene. A search warrant was obtained and the Crime Scene Unit was requested to process the scene.
This situation appears to be domestic related and the male party involved is speaking with detectives. Identification of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
