(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested to handle the investigation of an officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier this evening. 

Shortly after 8pm, officers assigned to the South Precinct were dispatched to a domestic dispute at 715 Alex Lane in unincorporated Lawrenceville.  When officers arrived, they met with a woman who said that she lived at the home with her x-husband.  She said that her x-husband physically assaulted her.  She called 911.

Once officers arrived, the x-husband barricaded inside the home.  He had at least one firearm.   While officers were setting up a perimeter outside the home, the suspect opened the door.  The officers gave verbal commands.  He pointed his firearm at the officers, and the officers discharged their weapons striking him multiple times.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The GBI and Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene.  Additional details regarding this investigation must be obtained through the GBI.
