Pedestrian Fatality – Delayed Death 11/15/2018

(Tucker, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is investigating a delayed death from a pedestrian collision that occurred almost one year ago. 

On November 15, 2018, officers assigned to the West Precinct were dispatched to a pedestrian accident at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Mimosa Drive in unincorporated Tucker at around 6:30 AM. 

Based on the preliminary investigation, Genyuan Taou (age 67 – at the time) was attempting to cross Lawrenceville Highway when he was struck by a blue Toyota Sienna.  The driver of the blue Toyota was turning left onto Lawrenceville Highway from Mimosa Drive.  Genyuan was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision. 

On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, the Accident Investigation Unit was contacted by the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office in reference to the death.  According to the ME’s Office, Genyuan died while in hospice from injuries he sustained during the collision.
