(Duluth, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a pedestrian traffic fatality that occurred early Thursday morning around 4:40am. Uniform Officers responded to Interstate 85 Southbound near Boggs Road for reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the middle of the interstate.

Ronald Brown (Age 56, Buford) exited a vehicle that was parked on the right shoulder of Interstate 85 Southbound and began crossing multiple lanes of traffic. As Brown entered into the third lane, he was struck by a yellow Toyota RAV4. Brown died on scene as a result of his injuries sustained from the crash. The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Accident Investigators responded to the scene for further investigation.

Traffic on Interstate 85 in the area was severely impacted for several hours while the investigation was conducted. It is unknown why Brown entered into the roadway at the time he was struck. Brown’s next of kin has been notified.
