Suspect Steals Shoppers’ Wallet While They Shop and Charges Thousands

(Duluth & Peachtree Corners, Georgia) Gwinnett Police need the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a theft and credit card fraud case.  The female suspect hangs around grocery stores pretending to shop.  While other shoppers are distracted or have stepped away from their buggy, she steals their wallet from their purse and then purchases gift cards using the stolen credit cards.  On August 5, the victim was at Publix located at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth.  While she was shopping, the suspect stole her wallet and went to Walgreens located at 1490 Pleasant Hill Road and attempts to purchase several gift cards in $200.00 increments and other various items.  On August 6, another victim was shopping at Publix located at 3200 Holcomb Bridge Road in Peachtree Corners.  As she was shopping, the suspect stole her wallet from her purse.  The suspect then goes to Walgreens on Peachtree Parkway, Buford Highway, and Sugarloaf Parkway and purchases several gift cards and other items totaling almost $1700.00.

The suspect is described as a black female with short hair.  In both cases she was wearing a black jacket, black pants, and orange shoes.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark colored Chevrolet HHR, possibly having an out of state license plate.  The vehicle’s passenger side brake light is also out.
