Two Children Die in Overnight Crash

(Norcross, Georgia)  Two children died in an overnight crash, and several others were treated at a local hospital.  The incident was called in to the 911 Center shortly after 10 PM on Wednesday, June 19.  The crash took place on Steve Reynolds Boulevard near Windward Lane in unincorporated Norcross.

  • Cindy Catalan-Ordonez (age 28, Duluth) was driving a silver Mitsubishi Endeavor.  She was traveling northbound on Steve Reynolds Boulevard.
  • Rithy Kim (age 38, Stone Mountain) was driving a white Toyota Rav 4.  He was traveling southbound on Steve Reynolds Boulevard.  There were three other occupants in the vehicle with him: Rachana Tep (age 37), Vincent Kim (age 8), and Kristin Kim (age 14).
  • Jaleia Foxx (age 22, Norcross) was driving a gold Honda Civic.  She was traveling behind the white Toyota Rav 4 going southbound on Steve Reynolds Boulevard.  There were two other occupants in the vehicle: Janelle Roberson (age 22) and Emma Foxx (age1).

According to the preliminary investigation, Cindy Catalan-Ordonez (silver Mitsubishi Endeavor) crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the white Toyota Rav 4 head-on. The Toyota was pushed backwards into the gold Honda Civic.

All the drivers and passengers (eight persons) were transported to a local hospital with varying levels of injuries.  Unfortunately, Vincent Kim (age 8) and Kristin Kim (age 14) died as a result of their injuries.

All the vehicles involved were impounded to Gwinnett County Police Department Headquarters for evidence processing.  At the conclusion of the investigation, Cindy Catalan-Ordonez may likely face criminal charges.

Though the loss of life in any traffic collision is terrible, it is especially heart-breaking when the death involves a child.  Our thoughts are with the Kim family as they cope with the loss of both children.
