UPDATE #1: There was not a second vehicle involved in this accident.  Watkins’ vehicle was the only vehicle that struck Ward. 

ORIGINAL RELEASE: (Stone Mountain, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a deadly pedestrian accident that took place on November 25, 2019.  Based on the preliminary investigation, Fredrick Ward (age 19, Stone Mountain) was walking eastbound on Manor Drive near Major Court.  Charles Watkins (age 69, Stone Mountain) was driving his 2010 Honda Odyssey eastbound on Manor Drive. 

Watkins struck Ward, who was walking in the roadway.  Watkins told officers that he never saw Ward before striking him.  After Ward was struck, he was thrown into the windshield of another vehicle and then run over by that vehicle and dragged.  Ward was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, no charges have been filed in this case.  The investigation is ongoing.
