Gang Investigation Leads to Seven Arrests

(March 13, 2015, Lawrenceville, Georgia) The Gwinnett County Police Department Gangs Unit has been investigating a fight and a report of gunshots that occurred on January 23, 2015.  On January 23, 2015, GCPD officers responded to the McDonalds at 1881 Grayson Highway, Grayson, GA, in reference to a fight.  A caller reported approximately 20 teenagers fighting in the parking lot, with one injured person lying on the ground.  The incident had broken up by the time officers arrived.

A short time later, officers were dispatched to a report of a gunshot at 2010 Graybrook Drive, Grayson, GA.  Officers discovered that subjects involved in the fight at the McDonalds had fled to this location.  No one had been hit by the reported gunshot.  Officers were able to determine that several of the subjects present were members of the criminal street gang “Ydubb”.  Ydubb is a hybrid gang, and considers itself a subset of the Bloods.  Hybrid gangs are more flexible with their name, memberships, and affiliations than a stereotypical street gang.  Ydubb was previously known as Young Wavy Goons or YWG.  YWG is the same gang whose members were charged in the murder of Paul Sampleton in December 2012.  The injured person from the fight at McDonalds was located and officers discovered he had been severely beaten.

The Gangs Unit took over the investigation and identified seven suspects as Ydubb gang members or affiliates.  Detectives believe all seven were participants in the attack on the victim.  In addition, detectives located photos and videos online that showed the suspects attacking and fighting random people having no affiliation with gangs or gang activity.  Five adult members were located and each was charged aggravated assault, battery, and participation in criminal street gang activity.

Those suspects are:

Rohshawn McKay (B/M, 20 years old)

Rashidi Allen (B/M, 17 years old)

Jahaud Jackson (B/M, 19 years old)

Alex Townsend (B/M, 17 years old)

Jourdan Stanton (B/M, 19 years old)

Two juvenile suspects were also arrested and charged with aggravated assault, battery, and participation in criminal street gang activity.  Aspects of this investigation are ongoing.
