COUNTY OFFICIALS TO CELEBRATE OPENING OF CENTERVILLE SENIOR CENTER
WHAT: Gwinnett County officials will open the Centerville Senior Center with a ribbon cutting and tour of the new facility.
About $2.9 million from the 2014 SPLOST were used to help meet the needs of Gwinnett County’s aging adults with a new full-service senior center. The center features a dining room capable of serving more than 100 seniors, a full kitchen with a serving line, a multipurpose room, a billiards area, a personal care room, support space and staff offices.
The new building transforms the Centerville Senior Center from a satellite center to a stand-alone facility that more than doubles the number of people who can be served.
WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m.
WHO: Gwinnett County Community Services Director Tina Fleming will emcee the event. Board of Commissioners Chairman Charlotte Nash, District 2 Commissioner Lynette Howard, state Rep. Karen Bennett, state Rep. Dar’Shun Kendrick and a representative for state Sen. Gloria Butler will provide remarks.
