Public Meeting on Pike Street Improvements
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The Gwinnett County and Georgia Departments of Transportation held a meeting in late September to share information and get public input on a proposed project to improve Pike Street in Lawrenceville. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve the safety and operation of West Pike Street between SR 316 and Hurricane Shoals Road.
The proposed project would improve 0.5 mile of West Pike Street beginning just east of the SR 316 interchange and ending just east of the intersection with Hurricane Shoals Road. A 1-ft raised concrete median is proposed on West Pike Street to replace the existing, two-way left turn lane. Median opening locations are proposed along West Pike Street with left turn lanes at the existing signalized intersections of Medical Center Boulevard, Professional Drive/Philip Boulevard, and Hurricane Shoals Road. Sidewalks will be added along West Pike Street along with a minimal amount of curb and gutter.
