FIRE CAUSES HEAVY DAMAGE TO HOME IN DACULA
(Dacula, Ga., November 7, 2018) – Residents were displaced from their home after a fire caused heavy damage through the roof at the 2080 block of Fence Road, NE in Dacula. The occupants stated that they “saw an orange glow and smoke come from under the kitchen door” and immediately retreated out of the home.
When crews arrived, they found heavy fire involvement at the two-story wood-framed single family residence. Flames were showing on the back left side of the house which is where the kitchen is located. We believe this is where the fire originated. Multiple hose lines were quickly deployed as an aggressive fire attack ensued. Within thirty minutes, the crews had made a complete knock down on the fire. Thankfully, there were no injuries to report as three adults, one child, and a dog were out of the home when crews arrived. Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants.
Per the Fire Investigator, the blaze appears accidental although they are unable to rule out a potential electrical cause.
Residents are encouraged to keep their home and family safe by following simple fire safety rules:
- Install working smoke alarms on every level of the home and in each of the bedrooms.
- Develop a home fire escape plan and practice fire drills regularly.
- Keep a portable fire extinguisher close at hand to douse a small fire.
