FIRE INVESTIGATORS AND LAWRENCEVILLE POLICE INVESTIGATE BUSINESS FIRE

(Lawrenceville, Ga., December 8, 2022) - Firefighters responded to a report of a business fire Wednesday on the 100 block of Stone Mountain Street SW in Lawrenceville at 5:26 p.m. The caller stated that a business was on fire.

Fire crews arrived at 5:29 p.m. to find a single-story, wood-frame business, with heavy smoke and fire showing. Firefighters established a positive water supply while rapidly deploying two handlines to combat the flames. Fire crews performed a primary search of the structure and located a deceased person inside. The fire was under control at 5:49 p.m.

Additionally, one adult male who was walking away from the scene, denied medical assistance, and was detained for questioning by Lawrenceville Police Department. There were no firefighter injuries reported. Firefighters rotated through rehab before returning to service. The investigation of this incident is an ongoing joint effort between Gwinnett Fire Investigators and Lawrenceville Police Department.
