WEDNESDAY EVENING WEATHER-RELATED INCIDENTS

(Lawrenceville, Ga., July 17, 2019) – The following is a brief synopsis of weather-related incidents handled this evening by Fire and Emergency Services personnel.  It does not include all calls for the time period. 

TREES/POWER LINES DOWN:

  • Intersection of Newcastle Way SW/Centerville Highway SW in Snellville
    • Lines/power pole are down and across the roadway. Walton EMC was notified.
  • 50 Block of Shadow Lake Drive SW in Lilburn
    • Firefighters responded to down power lines. Georgia Power was notified.
  • 300 Block of North River Drive SW in Lilburn
    • Firefighters responded to a fallen tree that is leaning on wires
  • 4200 Block of Rosebud Road SW in Loganville
    • Firefighters found a live wire down in the yard.  No one injured.  Walton EMC has been notified.

RESIDENTIAL FIRE:

  • 2800 Block of Sawgrass Trail SW in Lilburn
    • Firefighters responded to an occupant’s report of a lightning strike and subsequent fire to their home at approximately 4:30pm.  The residents evacuated the home and fire personnel were able to confine the flames to the attic and second floor within minutes of their arrival.  There were no reported injuries.
