UPDATE #2: GWINNETT POLICE INVESTIGATING MURDER NEAR MACLAND DRIVE IN LAWRENCEVILLE
UPDATE 2: (Lawrenceville, Ga., March 14, 2022) The Gwinnett Police Homicide Unit arrested Brendon Woods (21-year-old-male from Lawrenceville) in Gastonia, NC, for the murder of Dakota Mcgee (21-year-old-male from Lawrenceville) with the assistance of the US Marshalls. Woods is pending extradition from NC to Gwinnett County and charged with the following: (Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of Firearm during commission of a felony.)
Investigators ask the public to call the police department if they have any information regarding a red or burgundy Ford Taurus with Georgia License Plate: RYK0183. Shortly after the incident took place, the vehicle was seen driving in the direction of Brooke Manor Court in Lawrenceville.

UPDATE 1: The victim, in this case, has been identified as Dakota Mcgee (21-year-old male from Lawrenceville), who was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound and later died from his injuries.
Brendyn Walker (24-year-old male from Lawrenceville) has been arrested and charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony.
ORIGINAL: (Lawrenceville, Ga., February 27, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Police Department responded to a double shooting just after 3:00PM on February 27th that resulted in the death of one man. Officers initially received a 911 call indicating that someone had been shot near the intersection of Macland Drive and McCart Road. When officers arrived, they initially located one man in his 20’s suffering from gunshot wound. A second male in his 20’s was located a short distance away in a vehicle.
Both males were transported to a local hospital where one of them died from his injuries. Investigators responded to the scene and believe the males met at the location just before the shooting. Investigators are asking the public to call the police department if they have any information to share on this case. At this time, the motive for the shooting appears to be drug related. The names of both men are being withheld until the next of kin is notified.
