Burglar Targets Cash Behind Counter and Inside Gambling Machines

The Gwinnett County Police Department Burglary Unit needs the public’s help in identifying a male who may be responsible for a burglary at a local convenience store.

On August 24, at approximately 4:45am, the suspect broke the front glass doors of the Santa Fe Food Mart with a hammer.   Santa Fe Food Mart is located at 880 Indian Trail Road in unincorporated Lilburn.  The suspect stole cash from behind the counter and from inside the gambling machines.  He also stole several packs of cigarettes.   The total value of theft is about $19,000.  He was seen walking away from the business towards Burns Road.

On the day before (August 23), the manager said that a suspicious male came into the store.  The young male pulled up his hoodie and tried to hide his face before walking inside.  He had an interest in the gambling machines and was continuously looking around as he was playing.  The male was wearing a shiny red, hooded shirt and was carrying a backpack.
