Detectives Are Looking for Male Who Fraudulently Obtained Vehicle

(Buford, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is looking for Brian Keith Dace after he fraudulently obtained a vehicle by convincing the victim that he would send her a check in the mail.  On March 6th, 2020, the victim met with Dace and “sold” him her vehicle in a parking lot near the Mall of Georgia.

Dace convinced the victim that he owned a car dealership and that he would send her a check for the vehicle after he took possession of it.  Dace provided fictitious paperwork to the victim which convinced her that she was conducting a transaction with a dealership.

The victim never received payment for the vehicle and called police.  When an officer initially called him, Dace provided the officer with a fake name of Keith Taylor and a fake date of birth.  The case was eventually handed over to detectives, who quickly learned Dace’s real name.  They also found out that he had pending charges in at least one other county for similar thefts.

There is currently an active warrant for Dace for Theft by Deception.  Detectives are asking anyone else who may have been the victim of Dace to contact the police department.  They are also asking for help from the public in locating Dace.

If anyone has any information to share in this case, please contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300.  To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com.  Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.  Case Number:  20-029956
