UPDATE: (Lawrenceville, Ga., September 20, 2021) – Ray Charles Evans (31 year old male from Lawrenceville) has been arrested by Gwinnett Police with the assistance of the Forsyth County Swat Team. Ray is being charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of Firearm during the commission of a Felony.

The victim in this case has been identified as: Shakiyla Sample (29 year old female from Lawrenceville) who was found deceased on scene.

ORIGINAL: Shortly after 4:30 am, officers assigned to the East Precinct were dispatched to a “person shot” call on Prospect Church Rd, in Lawrenceville. When officers arrived, they found one deceased female with a gunshot wound inside of the residence. Detectives are currently investigating the motive for the shooting, and the Crime Scene Unit is processing the scene.  Information on the individuals will be withheld until the next of kin is notified.
