UPDATE #1: HOMICIDE – Triple Shooting Leaves One Male Deceased

UPDATE: The Gwinnett Police Department SWAT Team was activated following a tip that Rene Martinez was staying at the Landmark at Bella Vista apartment complex. Rene Martinez (DOB 11/13/1990) was the primary suspect of interest for the shooting at The Falls Pkwy. Rene Martinez is being charged with: Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Fire Arm during the Commission of a Felony.

The SWAT Team made entry to the apartment and found Rene with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Rene was transported to a local hospital.

The victims in this case have been identified as Omar Torres (38 year old, Hispanic male) who was found deceased on scene. Jose Torres (22 year old, Hispanic male) who is currently in ICU. Erick Torres (27 year old, Hispanic male) was treated and released from the hospital.

At this time, the motive appears to be domestic related. Witness are still encouraged to call  GCPD Investigators or Atlanta Crime Stoppers with useful information.

ORIGINAL:  (Duluth, Ga., July 23, 2021) – Gwinnett Police Detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred on The Falls Pkwy around 8:30 pm.  Officers responded to a person shot call in the apartment complex and located one male, deceased, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Two additional males were also found suffering from at least one gunshot wound each in the vicinity.  They were both taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. 

Homicide detectives are currently investigating, and the Crime Scene Unit is processing the scene.  Detectives are still working on the timeline of events that led up to the homicide.  There has not been a motive identified at this time.  The names of all parties are being withheld until next of kin is notified.
