Update #1, 03/20/2020:  The male homicide victim has been identified as Derek Whiteside (age 30, Lawrenceville). The female shooting victim has been identified as Evelyn Chairse (age 33, Lawrenceville).  She was last reported to be at the hospital being treated for her life-threatening injuries. 

Voneric Hill (age 32, Lawrenceville) has been charged with one count of Felony Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault.  After being treated at a local hospital for minor injuries, he was booked in to the Gwinnett County Jail early this morning.

The incident resulted in a dispute between family members that escalated into violence.  Specifics of the dispute are not being released at this time.

Original, 03/19/2020:  (Lawrenceville, Georgia) A male and a female were shot after an altercation at an apartment complex.

Around 8pm officers from the Central Precinct were dispatched to a person shot call. They arrived on scene and found a male and a female with gunshot wounds. The officers immediately rendered aid. The male victim is deceased, the female victim has life threatening injuries and is being treated at a local hospital.

We have one suspect in custody that is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

At this time it appears the shooting began over an altercation between the victims and the suspect.

Detectives are actively investigating the case and are not currently looking for any other suspects.
