(Stone Mountain, Georgia) Gwinnett Police responded to a person shot call this morning shortly before 5:00am.  They responded to the intersection of Hugh Howell Road and Lilburn Stone Mountain Road to meet with DeKalb Police.  The initial investigation revealed that the shooting originally occurred in the area of Five Forks Trickum Road and Rockbridge Road in unincorporated Stone Mountain.  The victim, identified as 25 year old white female Avery Birthrong (Lilburn, Ga), was shot and killed while in a vehicle with two other males.  The driver drove away from the scene after the shooting and stopped at a gas station at the intersection of Hugh Howell Road and Lilburn Stone Mountain Road and called police.  DeKalb Police responded at approximately 4:20am and contacted Gwinnett Police when it was discovered where the shooting occurred.  Police are speaking to witnesses to determine the cause of this incident.  The driver of the vehicle the victim was in is cooperating with detectives.
