UPDATE #3: Homicide – Northcliff Drive, Suwanee – Victim Identified, Suspects Arrested

Update #3, 10/16/2018: As the lead detective was researching the activities of the victim’s life prior to the homicide, he learned of three armed robberies that occurred near the crime scene during the same weekend in the city of Suwanee.  Three suspects were seen at the scene(s) of the robberies and near the homicide location.  Suwanee detectives shared information related to the robberies with our Homicide Unit and worked with them to develop additional information on the incident.

A tip was received about the identity of one of the suspects.  Research into that suspect led to the identities of the other two suspects.

Franecha Torres (age 17, Norcross), Nicholas Evans (age 17, Suwanee), and Khalil Miller (age 18, Suwanee) were arrested on Friday, October 12 in reference to the robberies in the city of Suwanee.  As of Friday, Torres was charged with two counts of Armed Robbery and Evans and Miller were each charged with one count of Armed Robbery and one count of Aggravated Assault.

Late Monday, October 15, the lead detective assigned to the Homicide investigation charged each of the suspects with Felony Murder and Armed Robbery.

As of now, the motive for this homicide appears to be robbery.

It is our hope that the arrest of these individuals starts to bring some closure to Tunchez’s family and friends.

Update #2, 10/10/2018: After obtaining results from the autopsy, detectives learned that Willian died as a result of a gunshot wound.  This case is now considered a homicide.  It is believed that he died sometime around 7:30-8:00pm on Sunday night.

If anyone remembers seeing anything suspicious in the area or have information to share about this case, we urge them to call GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.

Update #1, 10/09/2018: The victim has been identified as Willian A. Tunchez (age 21, Lawrenceville).

At around noon on Monday, October 8, the father of the victim called to report his son as a missing person.  He told the tele-serve officer that he had not seen his son since the previous day (October 7) at around 9pm.  After dropping his sibling off at the home, he told his father that he was going to visit a family member (unknown location).

After getting his clothing description, the tele-serve officer listed Willian A. Tunchez as a missing person on GCIC.

The other family member does not live in the neighborhood of the crime scene.  Detectives are still trying to determine what the relation is between Willian and the place where his body was found.

Willian’s truck was found parked along the curb a few houses away from the crime scene.  The vehicle was transported to GCPD Headquarters for processing.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Detectives are still accepting tips in this case.  Please call GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.

With the help of the Medical Examiner’s Office, the detectives in the Homicide Unit will work to piece together the final day of Willian and how he died.
