UPDATE: Missing Police K9 Brix Located

Update: K9 Brix has been located at the Gwinnett County Animal Control Center. K9 Brik is healthy and unharmed.

Original Release: (Lawrenceville, Ga., Saturday, January 30, 2021) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is searching for a missing police K9.

At around 1am, an officer with police K9 Brix was in the area of 684 Winder Highway (Lawrenceville) when the dog became distracted and ran after a nearby animal.  The K9 handlers began searching for the K9 through the woods, neighborhoods, and along the roadways.  Nearby patrol officers, the police helicopter, the members of the Lawrenceville Police Department all aided in the search.

Brix is a tan-colored 7-year old male Belgian Malinois.  His snout and ears are black.  K9 Brix was last seen wearing a metal collar.  Because of his training, anyone who sees K9 Brix is encouraged not to approach him. 

It is possible that K9 Brix is still in the area of Winder Highway and Hosea Road.  

Tipsters should call 911 with any possible sightings.
