Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Office of Emergency Management will conduct its final public meeting on July 29 to discuss the 2020 Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan update.

The community is invited to attend and encouraged to provide comments on the 2020 Hazard Mitigation Plan update and learn about the process. Attendees will receive an overview of the plan update and the county’s identified hazards. Also being discussed are current and future mitigation projects that were identified during the planning process to better prepare and mitigate our community from hazards. This plan encompasses all municipalities as well as all areas that are unincorporated in Gwinnett County so all citizens are encouraged to attend.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency requires five-year updates to the plan to be eligible for federal funding for planning and capital projects to address problems covered in the plan, such as flooding. The Gwinnett County Office of Emergency Management is a unit of the Gwinnett County Police Department and handles tasks such as planning for emergencies and disasters, coordinating responses to incidents, directing hazard mitigation, and assisting Gwinnett County Government and its residents in recovery after an incident.

The open public meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on July 29 at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, in conference room A. You do not need to RSVP to attend.
