OPERATION WESTERN CURVE

(Lawrenceville, Ga., December 3, 2021) -The Gwinnett Police Department conducted a high saturation patrol detail Saturday, November 20, 2021. This detail utilized units from within the police department to collaborate and direct our resources to combat community safety issues. Officers from the Gang Unit, Community Response Teams, Special Operations Units, Communications, and the Aviation Unit were involved in the detail with support from Uniform Division officers.

Officers conducted over 88 self-initiated calls totaling 17 arrests, including 12 felonies and eight misdemeanors. In addition, officers conducted 96 traffic stops, issued 74 traffic citations, and recovered three firearms.

A traffic stop initiated around South Norcross-Tucker Road near Old Norcross-Tucker Road led to the driver and passenger fleeing on foot as the car continued moving down the street. An officer was able to stop the vehicle avoiding harm to the motoring/pedestrian public. A check of the area led officers on short foot pursuits, and one of the suspects' was arrested. Other arrests included drugs and firearms being recovered and taken off the streets.

We will continue to combat crime through proactive details. The resolve to keep Gwinnett a safe flourishing community where residents, businesses, and visitors feel secure remains a top priority of the Gwinnett Police Department.
