Traffic Dispute Leads to Shooting
(Atlanta, Georgia) A dispute on a local roadway led to the shooting of a man at a business in unincorporated Atlanta. At around 11:30 AM, officers assigned to the West Precinct were dispatched to a shooting at the Metro Green Recycling at 4351 Pleasantdale Road. When officers arrived, they met with a man who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
The shooter was also at the scene. He was immediately taken into custody.
The officers and detectives determined that the driver of a blue car (shooter) was angry with the driver of a commercial vehicle (victim) over some debris from the truck. The shooter followed the victim into the parking lot of the recycling facility. The victim pulled onto the vehicle scale. The shooter parked his vehicle a short distance away just in front of the control booth.
The shooter exited his vehicle while the victim retrieved a crow bar from his truck. The shooter walked over to the victim. The victim began to hit the shooter with the crowbar. The shooter retreated back to his car and got a firearm. He then went back to the victim and shot him in the abdomen.
Following the shooting, the victim got back inside his truck and moved it a short distance away (off the scale) and waited for an ambulance. The shooter placed the gun on the hood of his car and waited for police to arrive.
There were several witnesses to this event, and the incident was also captured on video surveillance.
Criminal charges against the shooter are likely later today, and the victim may also face criminal charges as well. The names of both individuals are not being released at this time. The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Neither the video footage nor the 911 audio will be released at this time.
