GWINNETT TO RECOGNIZE CONGRESSMAN JOHN LEWIS WITH VIRTUAL EVENT

WHAT:  Gwinnett County officials will recognize the late civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis with a virtual event to discuss his legacy and impact on Gwinnett County. Congressman Lewis is known as one of the Big Six civil rights leaders who organized the 1963 March on Washington. Lewis served in Congress for 33 years until his death in 2020 at the age of 80.

WHEN:  Monday, Feb. 22 at 9 a.m.

WHO:   Gwinnett County Community Outreach Director Shaunieka Taylor will emcee the event. Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson, District 4 Commissioner Marlene Fosque, Congresswoman Carolyn Bourdeaux and other community leaders will participate in panel discussions and provide remarks.
