The Current Planning Section within the Department of Planning and Development is responsible for the processing of rezoning, Special Use Permit, Change-in-Conditions, Buffer Reduction, and Moved-in-House applications in unincorporated Gwinnett County. The Current Planning Section also provides staff support to the Municipal-Gwinnett County Planning Commission.

Open Records Requests

The Open Records Request Form may be used to request access to documents maintained by the department to inspect or obtain copies under the Georgia Open Records Act. This form is not required to request routinely available records such as agendas, minutes, plats, ordinances, and resolutions. Although Open Records Requests are not required to be submitted in writing, use of this form will aid considerably in ensuring that each request is fulfilled as accurately as possible. Current Planning Section Forms

Any property owner or owner's agent can apply for a rezoning, Change-in-Conditions or a Special Use Permit on a property. Only complete applications are accepted in person at the Current Planning Section office. An application does not guarantee an approved rezoning or Special Use Permit. Listed below are many of the necessary forms from the Current Planning Section. Please read the Procedures and Instructions for Change-in-Conditions, Rezonings and Special Use Permit Applications (PDF) for instructions regarding required tasks and necessary items. Board of Commissioners' Resolutions
|
Listed below is a link to the monthly PDF packages that contain the official (signed) resolutions for BRD, CIC, MIH, MUO, RZC, RZM, RZR and SUP cases heard by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners. The documents contain the official resolution and legal land description for each case acted upon that month by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners. These official resolutions are available approximately one (1) month after the BOC public hearing date. Draft (unsigned) BOC resolutions are available from the Department of Planning and Development, Current Planning Section approximately one (1) week after the BOC public hearing date.

Public Hearings

The Municipal-Gwinnett County Planning Commission generally holds a public hearing on a monthly basis to consider rezoning, Special Use Permit and other applications. Information including meeting videos and minutes for the Gwinnett County Planning Commission are now available on the County website. The Planning Commission meeting videos can be viewed at Planning Commission Meeting Videos approximately one to two days after the meeting. Planning Commission meeting minutes are usually available the day after the public hearing and are located at Planning Commission Meeting Minutes The Planning Commission Public Hearing Meetings can also be viewed on TVgwinnett Live.
