Thursday, December 25 is a trash and recycling holiday. Therefore, trash and recycling pickup will be delayed by one day following the holiday for residents who live in unincorporated Gwinnett. Residents who live within city limits should contact their hauler to find out if collection will be delayed due to the holiday.

The section's functions include the management of solid waste and recycling for both residents and businesses. They also holds events throughout the year for hard-to-recycle items. Georgia Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Act
The 1990 Georgia Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Act requires local governments to complete and periodically update a solid waste management plan. In 1991, Gwinnett County and many of the municipalities within the County developed a state-approved solid waste management plan. A 2007 amendment addresses a 2005 – 2020 planning period.
