Rates and Billing

The rate for residential solid waste and recycling service is $24.14 per month; $289.68 per year for basic service in 2025. After initially establishing service, payment will be made as part of the property tax bill.

The senior discount for those 62 and over is 25 percent of the hauler paid rate, which reduces fees for seniors to $18.11 per month. If you are not currently receiving the senior discount on your solid waste fee, an application and affidavit form must be submitted to Solid Waste Management. Download the Solid Waste Fee Senior Discount Application (PDF). You may also contact the Solid Waste Management office at 770.822.7141.

Set Out Guidelines

Trash, recyclables, bulk items, and yard trimmings are scheduled to be collected between 7:00am and 6:30pm on your day of service. Homeowners should place containers or items curbside prior to 7:00am on collection day and remove them no later than the day following collection day.

Cart Placement

  • Trash carts and recycling carts or bins should be placed within three feet of the curb or the edge of the street and at least three feet away from any obstacles, preferably on the opposite side of the driveway from the mailbox.
  • The trash cart lid opening should face the street.

Cart Guidelines

  • Use the approved solid waste cart provided by your hauler.
  • Place trash inside the cart with the lid closed – overflow won't be collected.
  • You may contact your hauler for another cart for an additional charge.

Curbside Recyclables

  • Rinse cans, bottles, and containers before placing them in the recycling bin.
  • Place loose, acceptable materials in the recycling cart or bin. Items must not be bagged.
  • Break down cardboard boxes and place in the container. Remove plastic, foam, or trash from the boxes.
  • If the recycling cart or bin is full, you may request an additional container from your hauler.
  • Haulers cannot collect recyclables placed in plastic bags outside the container. To find which retailers accept plastic bags for recycling, use the recycling directory.

Recycling Information

Residential solid waste haulers use dedicated trucks for recycling and a method called "single stream recycling." This means that recyclables are sorted at the recycling center rather than being sorted curbside. Please rinse cans and containers before placing them in the recycling cart.
