(Lawrenceville, Ga., 3/2/26) – A man arrested with more than 4 grams of methamphetamine was sentenced to serve 18 years in prison.
Asa Phillip Daniels, 46, was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and felony possession of methamphetamine after attempting to sell more than 4 grams of the illegal narcotic to an undercover police officer. He was sentenced to 25 years to serve 18 years in prison, with the judge citing Daniels’ previous felony convictions when deciding the sentence.
“We do not want these drugs in our community, and we hope this verdict and sentence makes that message abundantly clear,” District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson said.
On July 14, 2025, Daniels was arrested after police officers in Duluth found him more than 4 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle he was driving. He requested an expedited trial, and evidence revealed to the jury included audio surveillance of him making a verbal offer to sell the narcotics.
Assistant District Attorneys Selwin Patterson and Joe Morales prosecuted the case with assistance from Investigators Dennis Hennelly and Chris Lymber and Victim Witness Advocate Chelsey Thomas. The Duluth Police Department was invaluable in helping to prosecute this case.
