GWINNETT COUNTY COMMISSION, GWINNET DELEGATION MEET FOR ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Dec. 16, 2022) – Gwinnett County Commissioners and state lawmakers who represent Gwinnett met for the annual joint delegation meeting earlier this month.

The bi-partisan meeting serves as a catalyst for partnerships and legislation that may be pushed during next year’s session, while providing a platform for commissioners to address legislative concerns that will make an impact locally. Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson hosted the event.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside our state lawmakers to provide the best, most sustainable services to our residents,” said Hendrickson. “Time and time again, our leaders have shown what can be accomplished when we come together in good faith to work on the issues that matter most to Gwinnett residents.”

Here are a few highlights from the discussion:

  • The County’s federally funded Project RESET 2.0 program is wrapping up after distributing more than $85 million in emergency rental and utility assistance
  • The addition of a seventh judge to Gwinnett County’s State Court, which was approved by legislators
  • Voters approved a renewal of SPLOST in November, which will collect more than $1.35 billion over the next six years which will find critical infrastructure projects

Meanwhile, lawmakers said their priorities for 2023 include housing affordability and reducing taxes. The new legislative session begins in January.
