GWINNETT COUNTY ESTABLISHES HOMELESSNESSES TASK FORCE

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 18, 2026) – The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved the creation of a Homelessness Task Force that will bring community members together to develop a coordinated, streamlined and actionable response to homelessness in Gwinnett.

The 10-member task force will be jointly managed by the Gwinnett County Planning and Development and Community Services departments. Task force members will be appointed by the Board of Commissioners, Gwinnett County Police Chief or designee, Gwinnett County Public Schools, Gwinnett’s Community Improvement Districts, and local healthcare and non-profit providers. The task force will hold monthly meetings and serve as community representatives to identify service gaps, gather public input, review data, assess models from other jurisdictions and evaluate best practices and strategies.

“Homelessness requires both compassion and coordination, and this task force will bring together the people and the organizations already doing this work,” said Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “The goal is to improve collaboration and recommend practical solutions that will help us respond more effectively to homelessness in Gwinnett while balancing the needs of individuals, families, businesses and the broader community.”

The task force will present its recommendations to the Board of Commissioners in alignment with the County’s values of integrity, accountability, equity, inclusivity and innovation. More information about task force appointments will be announced in the coming weeks.
