Learn MorePlan strives to accommodate growth and strengthen communities
(Lawrenceville, Ga., Dec. 12, 2023) – The Board of Commissioners heard draft recommendations from the 2045 Unified Plan today during their informal presentation meeting.
The 2045 Unified Plan provides a vision for what Gwinnett can become over the next two decades, offering tangible steps to get there. With a core focus on accommodating the county’s growing population – expected to grow by more than a half a million residents by 2045 – the plan preserves the county’s high quality of life while promoting intentional and community-beneficial development.
Initiated by Gwinnett Planning and Development, the plan was developed using stakeholder and community feedback as a catalyst for its recommendations. It tackles key issues related to land use, economic development, housing, transportation, sustainable infrastructure and community resources.
“This plan offers a new outlook, highlighting solutions that benefit everyone and explores the components of a thriving county,” said Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “It’s an updated comprehensive plan for Gwinnett’s future land use and development recommendations, reflecting the values of our dynamic communities, unique cultures and diverse needs.”
The plan also comprises actionable goals, strategies, priorities and implementation to guide elected officials, County staff and other community leaders as they work to improve Gwinnett for all its residents. Central to these objectives is the creation of a concept called daily communities where work, goods and services are easily accessible from residents’ homes.
An open house to present the draft plan is scheduled on Wednesday, Jan. 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at One Justice Square located at 446 West Crogan St. in Lawrenceville.
The board will vote on whether to adopt the plan in February 2024. To review the draft plan and provide feedback, please visit GwinnettCounty.com/2045UnifiedPlan.
