HOMEFIRST GWINNETT RIBBON CUTTING TAKES PLACE FRIDAY

WHAT:     Ribbon Cutting/Dedication of homeless shelter for women, moms and their children

  • HomeFirst: The Resting Spot will begin formal shelter operations Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021
  • The facility will be the only operating homeless shelter in Gwinnett County
  • At full-capacity, there will be 20 beds for single women and/or women who are legal guardians of children
    • Due to COVID-19, capacity is limited to two families and four single female adults.
  • Guests may stay up to three months and receive dedicated case management and future, housing assistance
  • Guests will also have access to showers, laundry, a lounge area, two hot meals daily, multiple computers and a full library
  • The Resting Spot was primarily funded by Gwinnett County

WHO:   Officials who will be part of the dedication program include Gwinnett County Commission Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson,HomeFirst Gwinnett Executive Director Matt Elder, Shelter Director Brandee Thomas, United Way of Greater Atlanta CDO Chad Dillard, Executive Vice-President and Chief Reputation Officer of the Primerica Foundation Katheryn Kieser, Community Advocate Pat McDonough
