(Lawrenceville, Ga., April 10, 2026) – The Hooper-Renwick Themed Library in Lawrenceville will close to the public for several weeks beginning April 14 while repairs are made to underground plumbing at the facility. The library is expected to reopen in early May.
The repair will be completed under the one-year warranty provided by the contractor at no cost to Gwinnett County. The exhibit space and associated artifacts will be unaffected by this work.
This temporary closure will provide the contractor with uninterrupted access to complete full repairs for the long-term serviceability of the facility and benefit of the library’s visitors. While the building is closed, the contractor will also complete additional warranty-related work.
The closure will take place after Gwinnett County Public Schools’ spring break and before summer break begins. The closure will not affect the Gwinnett County Public Library System’s 2026 Summer Reading Challenge.
During the temporary closure, library patrons are encouraged to explore the library’s digital services and visit other nearby branch libraries.
