KID'S FISHING DAY AT JONES BRIDGE PARK

(Peachtree Corners, Ga., June 1, 2016) – In conjunction with National Fishing and Boating Week, Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation (GCPR) is inviting the community to reel in some family fun with a free fishing event on June 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jones Bridge Park. Buford Trout Hatchery will stock over two thousand Rainbow Trout on the morning of the event. There will be fishing for all skill levels, and a fishing rod and bait provided while supplies last. Demonstrators will be available to assist in baiting hooks and removing fish. No fishing license necessary. The first 350 children will receive a gift including a RealTree baseball cap provided by O’Neill Williams from O’Neill Outside. Join District 2 Commissioner Lynette Howard for arts and crafts at the Hook a Kid on Play area.  Children can get their “First Fish Certificates” and enjoy delicious Brats and hot dogs while supplies last.

Participating groups include REI, Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources offering adopt a Caddisfly Larvae craft, Gyotaku fish painting and Tiny Tots fishing by GCPR staff. The event is in partnership with Kiwanis of Alpharetta-Johns Creek, Duluth, Johnsonville, Bass Pro Shops, Trout Unlimited and Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Children ages 16 and under are invited to fish and must be accompanied by an adult. Life jackets are recommended. All ages are welcome.
