(Lawrenceville, Ga., May 18, 2011) - County Attorney Karen Thomas, who led the County Law Department since 1998, resigned effective May 13. Thomas, who submitted her resignation in February, agreed to stay through mid-May in order to help facilitate a smooth transition in the Law Department.

County Administrator Glenn Stephens said, "While we're grateful for the service Karen provided, the Board of Commissioners is looking for a new direction in leadership for the Law Department."

With the Board's consent, Stephens has asked Deputy County Attorney Van Stephens to serve as Acting County Attorney until further notice.
