(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 13, 2011) - Steve North, who has led the Gwinnett County Department of Support Services since 2007, resigned effective June 10. The Department of Support Services oversees the areas of facilities, fleet, capital projects and real property management. North, who submitted his resignation in March, agreed to stay through June 10 in order to help facilitate a smooth transition in the department.

County Administrator Glenn Stephens said, "While we're grateful for Steve's service, the Board of Commissioners is interested in a change in direction for the Department of Support Services and the functions performed by the department."

The divisions within Support Services will report directly to Deputy County Administrator Aaron Bovos while a thorough review of the department's organizational structure is conducted.
