On Your Mark, Get Set, Read at Summer Camp

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 15, 2016) – Summer camp is in full swing at Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation (GCPR) with opportunities for children to experience fun and imaginative activities opening doors to all kinds of new worlds. The full-day adventure camps will feature summer reading activities between June 13 through June 17. These activities are in partnership with the Gwinnet County Public Library impacting more than 525 campers ages 5–13. The camps will feature a total of 4.5 hours of summer reading, games and activities. In addition to reading, children will also be educated on the importance of healthy habits through partnerships with Live Healthy Gwinnett, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Strong4Life and The OrganWise Guys, Inc. GCPR undergraduate Public Health interns will be interacting with 12 camp locations over the course of seven weeks to conduct nutritional education lessons and physical fitness activities. Activities will total up to about 105 hours for the summer impacting more than 4,795 campers.
